“World Masters Games 2021 Kansai Pre-Tournament,SUP2020 Japan Open” A big thanks for everything for a successful tournament!
The”World Masters Games 2021 Kansai Pre-Tournament,SUP2020 Japan Open” was held on October 18th(sun) at Kumihama Bay Canoe Stadium in Kyotango City. This tournament was the first “test tournament” of the “World Masters Games 2021 Kansai” to be held in Japan, and it ended up being a large event with more than one hundred and twenty participants.
We were glad to see that so many psrticipants came out despite the influence that the Corona virud still has over the entirety of Japan. One of our main concerns was creating a safe and secure tournament for both athletes and attendees, especially with the amount of participants. We implemented a variety of precautions that helped the tournament run without any incidents, including temperature checks and health assessments that we greatly appreciate our participants complying with despite the inconvenience.
The tournament was comprised of long distance races, technical races, as well as age division-specific races. We were fortunate to have good weather, and the athletes were blessed with a tailwind that aided their rowing. Many participants thought that it would take time to get used to the “stadium,” an inland sea ( which is rare in Japan ), but we were so impressed that the athletes not only adapted but exceled here.
In addition to media coverage, we also had drones shooting at the venue, providing full converage of the event, which we broadcasted live on
You Tube as well as via other channels. We will continue to provide event information in the future, so be sure to follow us.
We will continue to help grow the popularity of the amazing event known as SUP, and will do our best to support everyone in their quest for a life filled with activity and sport. We look forward to seeing you all at the World Masters Games 2021 Kansai.
